Grandmaism

Working from FIVE BELOW this morning, a discount store where every item is $5 and below. (Not ironically for me at all, it's in the same location in Hylan Commons Shopping Plaza where The Gap was when I worked there in the mid-90s). The Maker Culture movement is something important to me, but for me it goes back to an even earlier impetus--being in drug stores like CVS & the old Genovese Drugs when I was a tween. Nail polishes, lip glosses, fancy hair clips are not just fashion accoutrements, but are also elements in performance.
